The Day After Easter

I’m a believer! I believe in the life, the death, the burial and resurrection of the Son of God, Jesus Christ. Now what? What are we called to do the day after Easter?

Was Jesus’ death on a Roman cross the end of the story or was it just the beginning of a new chapter in our cosmic universe? Is it by chance that you are reading this blog, or was it predestined by God that you are here right now in this very spot?

Are you looking for drama, adventure, deep relationships? Are you looking for truth? And if you found truth, what would you do with it?

So many questions I have because now I’m a believer. Shouldn’t I have everything figured out? Shouldn’t I know exactly what I am doing and what my purpose is on this earth?

Asking questions, seeking truth, accepting and acting out on truth is what we are called to do. Matthew 7:7 states, “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” This verse is a map of sorts to arrive at the truth.

In Jesus’ time on this earth, there wasn’t the internet. You couldn’t google a person’s name and search for information on them. To find the whereabouts of a person, you would have to ask someone who knew. Then you would go on a journey to seek them. Always asking along the way. Once you narrowed down your search, then you started knocking on the specific door of the person you were seeking, and that person would open the door. And the search was over, now you can inquire of that person directly. I believe the Christian journey works in a similar way. We need to ask and then search and then knock on the right door to find out who Jesus is and what He is all about. There is a lot of false information out in the world about Jesus so you need to search and find out the truth. It’s the process of spiritual growth.

That’s what we are prompted to do on the day after Easter. It starts with the empty tomb. In Luke 24:5, the angel asks, “Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, He is risen!”

Let us ask about and seek the risen Lord! For He wants to be found, and He will open the door to you. You just need to follow the right map.
