The Yellow Rose

Let’s start this story with the attributes of joy, peace, friendship, and affection — all symbolized with a yellow rose.

My wife had outpatient surgery recently, so I purchased a bouquet of flowers to try and brighten up her day.  Within the bouquet were some yellow roses. They were exquisite on the day I purchased them, but only after a few days, the roses’ beauty faded.  It wouldn’t be long before they wound up in the trash. The roses were cut off from their source of life and shipped out to the flower shop. It reminded me of how sin cuts us off from our source of life. The source of life referring to God, who is our Creator — the very breath of our life. Yet, we (all humankind) chose a path of rebellion against God because we didn’t trust God as being enough for us.  We thought we could obtain a better life on our own without including God in our lives. The result sealed our fate for Death who showed its ugly head and became a real part of this world’s reality.

But that is not how this story of joy, peace, friendship, and affection ends. The Creator had a plan to restore us from the death we deserved by taking on human form and becoming the only person to be sin-free, The Creator transformed into a Savior who was tempted in all our ways yet did not yield to those temptations. Evil had no hold on Him. So, our Savior died a horrific public death at the hands of the religious establishment in Jerusalem for the sole purpose to pay the sin debt accumulated in this world — all past, all present and all futures sins that were committed.

Why would God do this for us?

Okay, I will let out His secret. God is in the process of building His kingdom.  Not that He never had a kingdom, for His kingdom has been in heaven.  He is working on the developmental stages of putting together His earthly kingdom. Quite frankly, He wants all His creation to be a part of it. The problem lies in the fact the God is full of grace and truth. His grace which allows us to become part of His kingdom. His truth which only allows those who have freely accepted the Savior’s gift of redemption to be allowed in His kingdom for sin will be not tolerated period. You say, “Well hey! Why is it taking so long to put this thing together?” The answer actually might surprise you. He’s keeping the doors open to His kingdom at the optimum moment when all who want to pledge their allegiance to the King can do so.

You see, when the Creator sees a dying yellow rose, instantly He is working on a plan to take that rose and ingraft it back into the original rose bush vine and reinvigorate it back to life, displaying the character of my God, which are joy, peace, friendship, and affection!

That’s what my God can do for you!
