The Awakening

One day, You opened the door, and I saw and heard You. You gave me eyes to see and ears to hear. You called to me, and I heard your voice. It was beautiful and good. Soft, like a spring rain tapping upon the glass of the window, Strangely soothing and meditative, I followed it. Defiant against the overwhelming sound of the culture, it cried out to me, “Peace. Follow me.” Not in a demanding sense, yet it sounded urgent. I was mesmerized by your voice, and I continued to follow the prompting of your call. Then in the depths of my heart, I saw You with my eyes and heard You with my ears and joy filled my heart — absolute purity combined with compassion, kindness and gentleness. In that moment, I saw and heard You in a different light. You were beckoning me to peer deeper into your face so I did and found life as You intended it to be, and I responded, “Let it be!” Then as a proud Father would, you smiled at me with a nod of approval and said, “It is very good!”
