Reflection: Family Thankfulness

Nothing brings family more together than sharing a meal, especially on Thanksgiving Day. Where our hearts are full of gratitude to all the blessings bestowed upon us from our good God. To be able to gather again and enjoy each other’s company is truly a blessing. My Mom orchestrates the Thanksgiving Day meal with expert precision, from preparing the traditional turkey dinner down to the details of the glasses and plates to be used. If you were to receive a star for putting together the perfect Thanksgiving meal, my Mom would get the large gold star.

After the meal has been consumed, we sit around the table. Getting reacquainted with what has transpired in our lives during the past year. It’s also nice to be around my nephews’ young children so much activity and never a dull moment. Family is given to us as a gift from our heavenly Father. I have been blessed with wonderful family.

Mom, thank you for making family traditions and lasting memories by bringing family together.

According to Ephesians 3:14-19, families are to be rooted in Christ and grounded in love so that we can better understand the depth of God’s love toward us.

Ephesians 3:14-19

14 For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, 15 from whom every family[c] in heaven and on earth is named, 16 that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, 19 and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
