Daddy, are you out there?

Last night I took a walk around the neighborhood for a little exercise.  When I was done with my walk, I sat down on the stairs in front of the house door, just watching the sky.  To my right, adorning the sky was a beautiful, red sunset reflecting off the clouds.  On my left-hand side, the sky lit up with flashes of lightning in the distance.  I started to think about Father’s Day arriving this Sunday and what a great God we have as a Father.  You know, I don’t know if I ever thanked God for being my Father on Father’s Day.  He is so awesome, the Creator of all life and beauty.  He is the giver of life and also the sustainer of life in a world created by Him, wonderfully displaying His beauty and creativity. Then, I also thought about my earthly father and the times we shared together. My dad stood by me in the good times and the tough times.  I do miss him since his passing five years ago.  My heavenly Father has always stood by me even if I strayed from His presence.  He allowed me to be raised in a home where both my parents loved God with all their hearts.  I watched a video that night of a song titled “Daddy” by Coldplay.  The song leans toward being sorrowful, but I think it captures the importance fathers have in this world.  God calls Himself the Father of the fatherless which shows the compassion He has for those who weren’t able to have good fathers.

I would like to leave you a blessing from our Eternal Father out of Exodus 20:6 and put into a song titled “Blessing” by Kari Jobe:

“May His favor be upon you

And a thousand generations

And your family and your children

And their children, and their children.”

Amen.
