The Cause – An Eternal Message

The Messiah arrived on the earth two thousand years ago.  Here is the definition found on the internet for Messiah. “The term Messiah is Hebrew and means ‘anointed one’. This is a title given to the person believed to be the savior, who has been chosen to bring salvation to humankind. The term ‘anointed one’ is used in both Christianity and Judaism. Christians believe that the Messiah was sent by God to save humanity.”  To add to this, Christians believe Jesus is the anointed one of God to be the savior of all mankind.

God’s desire is to bring salvation and righteousness to earth; to actually have the entire earth saturated with salvation and righteousness from heaven, that the earth would open up and receive them; that they would take root, sprout and grow to fruition.

See what God says in Isaiah 45:7-9:

I form light and create darkness;
    I make well-being and create calamity;
    I am the Lord, who does all these things.

“Shower, O heavens, from above,
    and let the clouds rain down righteousness;
let the earth open, that salvation and righteousness may bear fruit;
    let the earth cause them both to sprout;
    I the Lord have created it.

“Woe to him who strives with him who formed him,
    a pot among earthen pots!
Does the clay say to him who forms it, ‘What are you making?’
    or ‘Your work has no handles’?

God knew that mankind could not save themselves so He sent someone who could do the required task.  The task of bringing back salvation and righteousness to earth.  This is the long awaited Messiah, Jesus, God’s only Son.

Here’s what Jesus says about bringing salvation to the earth while He was teaching during His time on this earth (John 10:7-18):

So Jesus again said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. All who came before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture. 10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. 11 I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. 12 He who is a hired hand and not a shepherd, who does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees, and the wolf snatches them and scatters them. 13 He flees because he is a hired hand and cares nothing for the sheep. 14 I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me, 15 just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep. 16 And I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice. So there will be one flock, one shepherd. 17 For this reason the Father loves me, because I lay down my life that I may take it up again. 18 No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. This charge I have received from my Father.”

Jesus came to earth to shed His blood for you and me.  His shed blood brought the atonement that God the Father requires for the payment of sin.  Without this atonement, we could not live with God because God is holy and we are not. Now when God looks upon those who have trusted Jesus for their salvation, He sees us as holy through the final work of our Messiah.  The work of living a sinless life among this world of sin, the only man to live a sinless life. Jesus lived a blameless life. He was the perfect person to satisfy God’s wrath for the payment of sin so Jesus didn’t die a random death.  He died for a purpose, for God’s purpose. The purpose of dwelling with His people forever.

See Revelation 21:2-4

And I saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place[a] of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people,[b] and God himself will be with them as their God.[c] He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”

For without Jesus’ salvation, we would be lost. Lost without faith, hope, love, and God.  The cause of our God is for us.  The banner of God is all about us, for you and me.

So do you want to put your trust in the Shepherd or the thief?  The Shepherd will lead us to and through the door that dwells with God Almighty.  The thief will entice you with lies to gain your trust only to leave you, when you need a savior the most, alone with the wolves. God allows us to choose which way we want to go and because of that we have the ability to follow the Good Shepherd to green pastures.  This ability to receive Jesus’ salvation is what the true message of Easter is all about, to choose one faith, to find one hope, to express one love and to know the One True God.
